In the Year 2000...Weddings will be televised via the intertubes

I couldn't resist. It seemed like the best segway into talking about all the ways weddings and their preparation have changed over the past 100, 50, or hell 5 years! There are all sorts of ways that couples are sharing their upcoming marriage with their friends and family (and the world) today.

This blog is a great example of just such an advancement. It can provide a plethora of knowledge that would otherwise be lost in countless phone calls and letters, or it can be a great medium for the "happy couple" to vent out some of their anxiety about the wedding planning (this one is obviously in the latter for the most part). Here not only am I putting up little tidbits day-by-day, but you can actually find out some information. The mapped locations of our ceremony and reception locations along with the ability to get directions at the literal click of a button to your left are the best (and so far, only) example of this.

Creativity is the dominant force behind the integration of technology to weddings. A great quote is "Creativity is born of enthusiasm," and one's wedding is easily one of the biggest reasons to be enthusiastic in your life! Today, couples can post pictures via Flickr, friends can be instantly updated through Facebook and Twitter, and you can even live stream your wedding to those who cannot be in attendance thanks to USTREAM and Stickam.

For all of you who know us well, you know that I am naturally excited about all this and Fawn...well, let's say it took some convincing on my part, but we are truly living in a digital world where memories are stored in 1's and 0's instead of photo albums and reel-to-reels.

And if she thinks I'm bad now, just wait 'till the fun I'll get to have with all the new technology that will be around when we have our first kid!
